Outreach Programs

At NFDC, we believe that Shakespeare is portable, applicable, durable and relevant, and that everyone can understand and learn to like, if not love, this balding guy from 16th Century England – and that our interpretations and work shops can help with that process. With that in mind, we want to bring our Shakespeare to your teens.

NFDC offers a series of workshops for middle school and high school students that we want to bring to your public library or school.

Shake it Up: This one hour workshop focuses on improvisational activities and serves as a basic introduction to the language of Shakespeare. Participants will be up and at ’em, working together to create their own scenes and characters from randomly selected concepts they themselves come up with!

Ages: Middle School or 10-14
Price: $100.00
Length: 60 minutes

Be Not Too Tame: How to Give a Great Audition: This workshop lasts for an hour and half and introduces teens to the process of auditioning for a Shakespearean production. Participants will learn how to work with cold readings from a script, to take direction, and self presentation. Participants will also get a chance to work on scenes from Shakespeare’s most popular works.

Ages: High School or 15-18
Price: $125.00
Length: 90 minutes

Speak The Speech: Performing a Monologue: Participants with have the opportunity to perform and perfect a Shakespearean monologue. A great monologue is an essential part of any actor’s audition arsenal, and this workshop goes over the techniques to perform a great one, including character development, memorization skills, presentation and performance.

Ages: High School or 15-18
Price: $125.00
Length: 90 minutes
